Ready-make iPS and iPS-derived cell lines

TaKaRa Bio offers homogenous, well tested and easy to culture cell populations, which were differentiated and generated from iPS cells grown in the DEF-CS system. In portfolio there is wide range of cells including cardiomyocytes (mesoderm) and hepatocytes (endoderm).
1. Human stem cell-derived intestinal epithelial cells
These small intestinal epithelial cells are derived from human iPS cells and have same characteristics, including the ability to form tight junctions and the expression of villin and the intestinal transcription factor CDX2. Cellartis Intestinal Epithelial Cells (from ChiPSC18) also provide higher expression of the metabolic enzyme CYP3A4 and transporter PEPT1 compared to the human colon cancer Caco-2 cell line.
Main features:
- Cells form tight junctions within 5 days of thawing
- Can be used in days 5–8 post-thaw
- High intestinal markers (e.g., villin and CDX2) expression
- Cells form a functional, permeable barrier
2. Human embryonic stem cell kits
Human embryonic stem (ES) cells are banked and characterized to the highest industry standards. These cells are adapted to the DEF-CS culture system, complete culture system for efficient ES-cell expansion and are suitable for mass cell production.
Main features:
- Derived under stringent ethical and legal conditions
- Supplied from fully characterized cell banks
- The cell lines are analyzed for purity and stem cell characteristics
- Optimized for culture with the Cellartis DEF-CS culture systems which is included in the kit
3. Human induced pluripotent stem cells
These human induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells were banked and characterized according to the highest industry standards. Cells were adapted to the Cellartis DEF-CS Culture System.
Main features:
- Adapted to easy-to-use complete culture system Cellartis DEF-CS for efficient iPS cell expansion in a feeder free environment.
- DEF-CS medium is included
- Cell lines were created from skin fibroblasts
4. Human stem cell-derived definitive endoderm cells
Human definitive endoderm (DE) cells were derived from the human induced pluripotent stem cell line ChiPSC18. It is a population of >90% SOX17 protein-expressing cells. Cells are suitable for further differentiation into hepatocytes or pancreatic endoderm cells.
Main features:
- Definitive endoderm cells with >90% SOX17-positive cells
- Suitable for further differentiation into hepatocytes or pancreatic endoderm cells
5. Human stem cell-derived beta cells
These cells were differentiated from our ChiPSC12 and ChiPSC22 lines of control human induced pluripotent stem (hiPS) cells and secrete high amounts of insulin and C-peptide, and they show substantial protein expression of insulin/C-peptide, MAFA, NKX6-1, PDX1, and UCN3.
Main features:
- Secrete high amounts of insulin and C-peptide
- Show protein expression of insulin/C-peptide, MAFA, NKX6.1, PDX1, and UCN3
- Kit is a great research tool for investigating beta-cell function, diabetes modelling and others
6. Human stem cell-derived hepatocytes
Cellartis enhanced hiPS-HEP v2 kits provide an inexhaustible supply of mature hepatocytes derived from human induced pluripotent stem (hiPS) cells. Cells express key hepatocyte proteins, including α1AT, Alb, CK18, HNF4α, and E-cadherin
Main features:
- Ideal for in vitro drug discovery, drug metabolism, toxicology studies and support metabolic disease modelling
- The cells survive long time in culture, what enables a longer assays (14 days) in chronic toxicity experiments
- Cells secrete physiologically relevant levels of albumin and urea
- Demonstrate LDL uptake
